Usalama Foundation is a collaborative network of resident
leaders working to prevent violence and improve the quality
of life in violence-impacted communities throughout
Los Angeles County.

protect lives, and build safer communities.
Usalama Foundation envisions safer, stronger, and more resilient communities where resident leaders take an active role in protecting life, preventing violence, and improving the conditions of the neighborhoods they call home.
We believe lasting change begins within the community. By establishing effective lines of communication, building bridges across differences, and strengthening relationships among those closest to the challenges, we seek to cultivate communities rooted in accountability, unity, opportunity, and collective responsibility.
Our vision extends beyond responding to violence after it occurs. Through prevention, intervention, violence interruption, education, mentorship, and leadership development, Usalama Foundation seeks to de-escalate conflict, interrupt cycles of violence, create opportunities for positive engagement, and prevent the loss of life. By strengthening social connectedness, empowering youth and young adults, developing life skills, encouraging economic opportunity, and organizing around the unique needs and strengths of each community, we work toward lasting change from the inside out.
